I am soundly sleeping
in my mama's bed
The cold air around me stirs me
I pull my legs up under me for warmth
I resist waking,
keeping my eyes closed
I roll over,
my hands reaching for her
My nose picks up her scent
I can smell her;
she must be close
I crawl,
slowly toward her scent
I lay my head down on the softness
It's not my mama,
but it smells just like her.
I sleep again,
snuggled into to
the scent of my mama
